I can still remain independent basically. Monty432685 Sentinel Pointe has got just about anything that I needed. They had a store that had all sorts of snacks, protein bars, crackers, cheese, pops, juices, and candy bars. Inside the facility there is also a beauty barbershop combination and a theater. They have shuttles constantly all day long, there's a game room, library, woodworking/craft room, music room, and exercise room. He also has a vehicle, and so there's a carport for him to keep his car under for the winter. He'll be starting out in the independent, and then over time, if he needs assistance, it'll just evolve into that, but he'll be able to keep the same room. My friend's room in particular had a full-size refrigerator, full countertop, a kitchen sink, a balcony type porch, and exceptional views of the wooded area with a creek down below. They were just phasing back into dining room seating after having gone through the COVID period, so some of the folks were still taking their meals in their rooms while others were phasing back into the dining room area.Įach room had a microwave. I read the menu and talked with the people there. Everybody spoke to him, and the folks living there didn't know that we were coming. The staff during the tour knew his facilities and he knew his people. They'll just automatically take care of it. If you go in and you're independent, but over time you need assistance, you can stay right where you're at. The room has been paid for and set aside, and my friend is in the process now of packing up and planning to be in there. After all of them that we toured, that was the one that (even for myself) felt like home. They actually enjoyed their surroundings. You could tell walking in that the people that resided there, it wasn't all put on or fake. MS Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community was a very nice facility. There were pictures on the wall that would relate to her working downtown back in the fifties and sixties, which would be nice for her. They had a little cafe, and they had the whole idea of the Main Street. They had a lot of little different things that I thought would be fun. I thought it was very clean, and it would be a fun place to live. It was close to a bathroom, and that was handy for older people. I think my mother-in-law would have enjoyed that. They had a nice theater room that was awesome. There was somebody watching a football game, and we saw people sitting in a community area, visiting, which was very nice. There would be somebody that would come in and do housekeeping and whatnot. We're the primary caretakers and we're six miles away, that makes a big difference. So, it was the cost and the availability that led us to the other place we chose. We were able to go in, and the staff showed us a studio and a one-bedroom. I liked their Main Street they had a lot of nice little features there that we liked as well. She was very good about calling back and asking if we had any questions, or if we had made a decision. The tour experience was a five, as well as the woman that gave us the tour. We would not have minded moving my mother-in-law in there, but the cost was too much. Sherry was the one that took us through, and she was awesome. I visited this facilityĪlice We did a tour of Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community, and we loved that one, but the cost is a little pricey for my mother-in-law. It made an impact on me, and I knew I didn't want my mom there. They were sitting there on their chairs or walkers, and they just looked miserable, and nobody looked happy. Many of the residents were lined up and ready to have their meals. The other residents looked out onto the parking lot, and it was okay. The grounds in the back, where the residents would look out, were wooded, and they were pretty. The balconies were filthy, and some of the screens were broken. It smelled heavily of chemicals, like they might have put in a new carpet and painted it, and the toxic smell was overwhelming. There were a lot of things that needed to be fixed. I saw two or three apartments, and they were all in horrible condition. They were the same price as the other facility. It was just a very negative experience as far as the staff was concerned. Every staff person I encountered seemed unhappy and complained about the various jobs they were performing and the activities they were doing. And if you get too hot, you have to turn on an external air conditioner to cool off the room, which seems ridiculous and wasteful to me. Each person didn't control their own environment, as far as the heat and air conditioning. Lori I have nothing good to say about Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community.
